What's the story?

SmackDown Women's Champion Natalya recently participated in an interview with Muscle & Fitness magazine, where she spoke about how much she's changed and developed as a WWE Superstar since when she last started.

In case you didn't know...

A veteran of the Women's Division, Natalya began her stint with the WWE in 2008, by working as an ally for WWE Diva, Victoria, under the name Natalya Neidhart. A year later, she went on to ECW to work as Tyson Kidd's manager. A few months later, Natalya and Kidd teamed-up with Davey Boy Smith to form The Hart Dynasty.

The trio went on to win the World Tag Team Championships but disbanded after a year.

After the disbanding of The Hart Dynasty, Natalya pursued a singles run on Monday Night RAW, feuding with WWE Unified Divas Champions Michelle McCool & Layla. After suffering a defeat in her initial title bouts, Natalya finally won the Divas Championship at the 2010 Survivor Series PPV.

A month later, Natalya lost the Divas Championship to Eve Torres. Post her title loss, Natalya got lost in the mix due to the arrival of fresh faces. She's currently wrestling on WWE's SmackDown LIVE brand and is their Women's Champion.

The heart of the matter

Natalya participated in an interview with Muscle & Fitness magazine to promote the world premiere of the new season of Total Divas. While speaking on developing as WWE Superstar, Natalya said that:

I'm really proud of how far I've come and that I've never given up even when it felt like, "Gosh, maybe I should throw in the towel," or "Ah, I'm sick of fighting or I'm sick of going into battle." It's a great feeling to know I'm still here

Natalya stated that after watching the Mae Young Classic she felt inspired to do more and in fact now wants to face the women who took part in the tournament.

What's next?

Natalya will soon face-off against the RAW Women's Champion Alexa Bliss in a "Champion vs Champion" match at WWE's upcoming Survivor Series PPV.

Author's Take

Natalya's journey is filled with several highs and mighty lows, but somehow she managed to stay true to herself and became the superstar she is today. We hope to see Natalya compete in the ring for more years to come.
