WWE News: Nikki Cross to return for big match on RAW next week

What's the story?

We saw two big qualifying matches for a chance at the Women's Tag Team Championships on this week's episode of RAW. A third match was also announced during the show.

Sasha Banks and Bayley will team up to take on the alliance of Nikki Cross and Alicia Fox. Banks and Bayley have been touted as the favourites to win the Tag Team Championships.

In case you didn't know...

The Women's Tag Team Championships were announced on the Christmas special episode of RAW. Vince McMahon, dressed as Santa Claus announced that the titles would make their debut in the year 2019.

Tamina and Nia Jax defeated Alexa Bliss and Dana Brooke to become the first team to qualify for Elimination Chamber, where the inaugural Champions will be crowned. Dana Brooke and Natalya fell short to the Riott Squad in the second qualifier of the night.

Sasha Banks and Bayley, also known as the Boss n' Hug connection have made it clear that it's their goal to become Tag Team Champions this year.

The heart of the matter

Nikki Cross has only wrestled a handful of times in the main roster. She had an exhibition match against Becky Lynch in the UK, a 6-woman tag team match on RAW and then, was a participant in the second ever Women's Royal Rumble.

While Sasha Banks and Bayley are close friends both on and off camera, one doesn't know if Cross and Fox can coexist long enough to put away their opponents. Neither woman is known to be particularly sane (in kayfabe) and this alliance will be interesting. Needless to say, Banks and Bayley are the favourites in the match.

What's next?

The rumour is that Nikki Cross impressed the officials backstage during the Royal Rumble, so let's hope a push is in line for her!
