WWE star Paige recalls dark days during her career

WWE Superstar Paige has had a turbulent pro wrestling career, to say the least, having to retire from in-ring wrestling due to lingering back and neck issues.

In a new interview conducted for FOX News, Paige opened up about her storied career in wrestling, talking everything from her biopic, Fighting With My Family, to her early in-ring retirement due to injury.

Also during the interview, Paige spoke about a dark time in her life when she was battling depression after failing two WWE drug tests.

Back in October of 2016, Paige was suspended from WWE following her second Wellness Policy violation, and she later admitted on Lilian Garcia's Chasing Glory podcast that the suspension was due to her testing positive for "illegal drugs."

Paige talks battling depression

During her interview with FOX News, Paige admitted she was battling depression at the time of her suspension.

"Honestly, you surround yourself with toxic people, then that doesn't really help either," admitted Paige. "So what I did because I remember walking through a supermarket and I was, I looked terrible because you know I was, I unfortunately did, I'm very open about this and I love to talk about it just because again it helps others — but I was, I unfortunately, popped the drug test in WWE because I was just going through a bad stage in my life and I was just so depressed that I just turned to something else you know?"

Paige went on to say that recalls strolling through a supermarket and looking "terrible". She was encountered by a girl who told Paige she wanted to be just like the WWE Superstar, and that made Paige realize that she needed help and to change her lifestyle.

Paige currently acts as the manager of the The Kabuki Warriors tag team in WWE.
