What's the story?

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal issued a challenge to Universal Champion Brock Lesnar on Smackdown Live, to face him in a Champion vs Champion match at Survivor Series.

Paul Heyman, the manager and 'advocate' of "The Beast", took to Twitter to confirm that they would address the issued challenge at Raw. He went on to encourage the WWE fans to tune in and watch Lesnar's response to the Challenge.

In case you didn't know....

Jinder Mahal has been the WWE Champion since Backlash, where he defeated Randy Orton. Since then he has defended his championship in multiple matches against 'The Viper', as well as Shinsuke Nakamura. After a week of promoting WWE's Live Tour in India, he came back to Smackdown to issue a challenge to 'The Beast'.

Brock Lesnar has not been seen on television since No Mercy, where he defeated "The Monster among Men", Braun Strowman in a match to retain his Universal Championship. He has been the Universal Champion since he defeated Goldberg at Wrestlemania.

The heart of the matter

Mahal issued a challenge to Lesnar on Smackdown Live, to face him in a Champion vs Champion match at Survivor Series. He said that he had beaten everyone he had faced and he wanted to prove to the WWE fans that he was the strongest competitor.

Paul Heyman responded to the challenge on behalf of his client and said that Lesnar would address the challenge at Raw, Monday Night.

He encouraged the fans to be there to bear witness to Lesnar's response to Jinder's challenge.

What's next?

Brock Lesnar is set to appear on Raw, to respond to the challenge extended by Mahal. He will most likely accept, and face Jinder at Survivor Series, in a Champion vs Champion match.

Author's take

If there are no shenanigans involved, this match could turn out to be extremely entertaining. It would see Jinder get his just desserts at the hands of "The Beast".

This is unlikely to happen, however, as a match between the two would just make the loser look weak and reduce the image of the championship they hold. It is far more likely that there will be some sort of dusty finish where the loser has a legitimate excuse for losing.
