What’s the story?
As per a DNA After Hrs report, popular Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput has reportedly agreed to play The Great Khali in an upcoming biopic on the former WWE Superstar.
Apparently, a reputable film studio acquired rights to the biopic from Khali and has almost roped in Rajput to play the former World Heavyweight Champion in the movie.
On that note, the movie is set to bring fans the untold story of the Indian behemoth, chronicling his struggles as a police officer in Punjab and his journey to the big leagues of the WWE.
In case you didn’t know…
The Great Khali, whose real name is Dalip Singh Rana, is one of the most popular professional wrestlers of Indian descent.
The 7-foot-plus giant gained worldwide notoriety in the WWE and has also appeared in several Hollywood and Bollywood movies and reality shows.
Speaking of which, the aforementioned Rajput is no stranger to performing as the lead in biopics, having worked in the MS Dhoni: The Untold Story as well as another biopic on India’s first Paralympic Gold medalist Murlikant Petkar.
The heart of the matter
If one is to believe the rumblings in the Indian entertainment industry, one of Bollywood’s most popular young stars Sushant Singh Rajput will portray Khali in the film that promises to bring the life of the WWE veteran to fans in an unprecedented manner.
As noted on the DNA After Hrs report, a source connected to the team revealed:
“The biopic is on the life of wrestler Dalip Singh Rana, better known as Khali or the Great Khali in WWE circle. The studio has spoken to the Punjabi wrestler and he has given them the rights to make a film on his life.”
“Sushant (Singh Rajput) has been approached to play the titular role and he has in principle agreed to do the film”
Furthermore, the film aims to show the struggles of the man behind the Superstar, depicting his time as an officer in the Punjab State Police and life during his ascent toward the heights of success he gradually conquered.
What’s next?
As of this writing, it’s yet to be revealed when the biopic will start filming. It also hasn't been officially announced.

For those unaware, Rajput is an excellent actor who received widespread praise for his portrayal of Indian cricket legend MS Dhoni.
Khali is a unique character, and I for one am excited to see a biographical film created about the life and times of the Punjabi Playboy.
