What's the story?

The Usos moved to Monday Night Raw as part of The Superstar shakeup, and while the WWE Universe is usually into the identical duo, they didn't seem to be on this occasion. In fact, they seemed to sit in silence as the two tried to sing their own theme song on R-Truth's signature manner.

In case you didn't know...

The Us's had an impressive run as a tag team on SmackDown Live and added a lot of depth to the division when they were drafted to Monday Night Raw. Beyond that, they also seemed to tweak their gimmick to an extent, that included lazily singing their own theme song, taking TMZ style videos of competitors and cracking fifth-grade jokes during promos.

If nothing else, the segment was a bizarre roller coaster from beginning to end and highlighted what's right and wrong with today's tag team division. It also hopefully sets a standard for more detailed storytelling to come from the tag division, which has struggled to find that lately.

The heart of the matter

WWE made some changes to The Usos' gimmick this week on Raw and mildly succeeded in making them stand out. In fact, they tried to turn their theme song into a sing along, which didn't work, but that wasn't the end of the changes. They also filmed backstage footage of The Revival shaving each other's backs, which seems to point to a more childish gimmick.

With that being said and the critisims aside, this gimmick at least gives The Usos something to work with and hopefully helps them stand out in the tag team division. It also reinvigorates a bland gimmick and gives them a new way to connect and thrive off of the WWE Universe.

What's next?

It looks like The Usos might be taking on The Revival at Money in The Bank in some capacity. Maybe it could be on the pre-show, but at least WWE is trying something different with this storyline.
