What's the story?

R-Truth has been out of action for a long time after he suffered an arm injury in a house show match against Elias near the middle of October. R-Truth tweeted a video earlier in December saying that he had surgery on his shoulder.

Recently R-Truth put out a video of himself on Twitter, as he talked about coming back to WWE as he had almost recovered from his injuries. In the video, he asked Goldust to give him a chance and give him his spot for the WWE Mixed Match Challenge.

In case you don't know...

R-Truth teamed up with Goldust to form the Golden Truth in 2016, after a long storyline where both stars tried to have the other form a team. As a team, they had a year-long run which saw them primarily lose matches to teams higher up in the card.

In May of 2017, Goldust turned on R-Truth during a promo, and in the following weeks continued to face and defeat him in matches and brawls.

The heart of the matter

Goldust has been trying to find a partner to take part in the MMC since the announcement of the challenge. He approached Asuka to be his partner for the Challenge but was turned down.

R-Truth's recent Twitter post asked Goldust to look at his conscience and give up his spot to Truth. Truth also said that his injury was healing and he was going to return to WWE soon.

He claimed that Goldust had turned on him, and owed Truth the spot. Truth encouraged the WWE Universe watching the video to spread the hashtag of '#givetruthachance'. In the long periscope video, he offered Goldust dinner and even offered to take him fishing in return for his spot on the MMC.

Goldust did not agree to give up his spot, and in a Tweet to R-Truth said that he had been looking for a partner for weeks.

What's next?

The WWE Mixed Match Challenge is scheduled to start on the 16th of January, after SmackDown Live.

Author's take

The WWE MMC would be the perfect platform for R-Truth to make a return to WWE following his injury. Whether Goldust will oblige him and give up his spot is another matter altogether.
