WWE News: Reason Chris Jericho won't win the Royal Rumble next year

Moments before his WrestleMania 32 match against AJ Styles

As we are just a few months away from the Royal Rumble 2017, which will kick-off the road to WrestleMania, speculations have already started regarding the potential winner of the Royal Rumble match.

The likes of Goldberg, Finn Balor and Chris Jericho have been conjectured by the fans as the possible winners of the match, who will go on to battle for the Universal Championship or World Championship at WrestleMania 33.

However, Chris Jericho may not be the winner of that 30 men countdown battle royal, as pointed out by Ringside News.

It was noted a few weeks back that Chris Jericho is not scheduled for WrestleMania 33. He was expected to take time off from WWE in order to record the upcoming Fozzy album. But ‘The Man of 1004 holds’ may have changed his mind, considering the success of his angle with Kevin Owens.

The fact that he has a month-to-month deal with the WWE instead of a full-time contract was revealed by Jericho in an interview with Live Audio Wrestling. In addition to his close relationship with the Chairman, Vince McMahon, the tremendous success of Y2J's recent WWE run is also the reason he has been enjoying a lucrative contract.

But this deal may very well be the reason, which prevents him from headlining WrestleMania 33. Ringside News indicated that Vince wants a full-time wrestler to win the Royal Rumble rather than Jericho, who may leave the company any time he prefers. Nonetheless, the pay-per-view being weeks ahead, the plans can change anytime.

Despite being barred from ringside, Chris Jericho interfered in the Universal Championship match last week on RAW and helped his ‘bestfriend’ to pick up the victory. It is rumoured that the aforementioned actions of the six-time World Champion may lead up to a match between him and Seth Rollins in the upcoming RAW exclusive pay-per-view, Roadblock: End of the Line, next month.

At this stage, a feud between him and Roman Reigns for the United States Championship seems feasible. All these storylines will stop Jericho from taking time off, and if he actually signs a full-time deal with WWE, he may end up as the winner of the 30th annual Royal Rumble match as well.
