WWE News: Reason why Renee Young missed Raw revealed

Renee
Renee Young was notably absent from this week's Raw

What's the story?

So, there are a lot of Raw Superstars currently on the shelf for a number of reasons - Dean Ambrose, Samoa Joe, Big Cass - but one WWE talent's absence last night had much of the WWE Universe asking questions.

Renee Young has been a mainstay on both Raw and SmackDown in the backstage interviewer role for quite some time but was notably absent from last night's Raw.

Well, the reason Renee wasn't in attendance has been revealed.

In case you didn't know...

Renee Young has worked for the WWE as an on-air personality, announcer, and commentator since 2012. She even had her own show Unfiltered on WWE Network where the accomplished broadcaster would interview WWE Superstars and ask some incredibly unique questions. She also recently opened up about her relationship with Vince McMahon.

Renee Young is married to Dean Ambrose and, while WWE previously teased including Young in a storyline alongside Dean Ambrose against The Miz and Maryse, the angle was relatively short-lived and didn't really result in anything aside from Miz being slapped.

The heart of the matter

Well, eagle-eyed WWE fans were quick to notice Renee's absence last night and, in the current age of social media, took to Twitter to ask the broadcaster why she wasn't on the red brand for what would be a pretty monumental episode on the road to WrestleMania.

It turns out Renee Young was effectively off sick, stating that she had to "shelf herself" this week.

What's next?

Thankfully, it doesn't seem too serious with Renee saying she'll be back on Sunday for Fastlane.

Renee Young will be hosting the Fastlane Pre-Show on WWE Network and a special edition of Talking Smack immediately after the show, too.

Author's take

Renee Young is one of WWE's top wrestling talents, so her absence is notable whenever she isn't there. As one of the top broadcasters in the world of wrestling, the only plus side is that Renee only missed Raw. While it would have been great to see her, Young is predominantly featured as a backstage interviewer on Raw - and WWE can easily dip into their pool of incredible interviewers such as Charly Caruso, Dasha Fuentes, and Mike Rome to fill in.

The silver lining is that Renee believes she'll be back in time for Fastlane. While I would never say anyone in WWE is "irreplaceable", I really cannot imagine watching a WWE pay-per-view without Renee Young on the pre-show!

We wish Renee a speedy recovery.
