What's the story?

The dark main event after the SmackDown tapings saw The Usos team up with AJ Styles to take on Rusev, Aiden English and Baron Corbin. The finish to the match saw an incredible sequence with referee Danilo Anfibio getting into the thick of the action.

In case you didn't know...

Last night's episode of SmackDown Live was an interesting one as we edge closer to WrestleMania. The Usos found out that they would be defending their tag-team titles in a triple threat against New Day and the Bludgeon Brothers.

AJ Styles, on the other hand, will defend his WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura, who has promised to knee Styles in the face.

For his part, Rusev has been added to the US title match, which is now a Fatal-4-Way.

The heart of the matter

Styles and The Usos faced Corbin, Rusev and English in last night's dark main-event. The ending sequence of the match saw referee Danilo Anfibio take off his shirt. Anfibio then Superkicked Rusev in the jaw at the same time when The Usos delivered stereo superkicks to Corbin and English.

Anfibio then covered Rusev as Styles acted as the referee and did the 3-count.

What's next?

Shane McMahon has been advertised for a return on next week's SmackDown Live. The last show before WrestleMania 34.

Author's take

How often do you see the referees taking the command of all that's happening inside the ring and deliver such interesting endings to matches? Well, it was fun to watch Anfibio nailing his job and needless to say, the loud 'Yes' chants across the arena acted as a cherry on top of the cake.

Overall, SmackDown's dark main-event finished on a light-hearted note, sending the fans happy. Thanks to social media, we can all enjoy the video.
