What’s the story?

Earlier today WWE uploaded a video of The Shield imitating The Club’s entrance in the WWE 2K18 video game on their official Twitter handle.

In the video, the 'Hounds of Justice' were seen to be entering the arena as The Club and were also throwing up the 'Too Sweet' hand gesture towards the crowd as well.

However, it did not take long for Shield member Roman Reigns to respond to the video, as 'The Big Dog' decided to take a shot at The Club via his Twitter account.

In case you didn’t know…

The Club is a WWE faction that composes of former WWE Champion AJ Styles and former Raw Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson. The group first made their debut in 2016, when Gallows and Anderson tried to help AJ Styles win the WWE Title at the Payback pay-per-view against Roman Reigns, with Styles being unsuccessful.

This ignited a feud between The Club against the trio of Roman Reigns and The Usos (The Bloodline). The trio then faced each other several times and eventually ended their feud on May 22nd when Styles once again failed to win the WWE title in a rematch against Reigns.

The trio would then get into a rivalry against John Cena and finally started to dominate in the WWE as Styles managed to defeat Cena twice.

The heart of the matter

In WWE’s clip from the 2K18 video game, where The Shield are imitating The Club's entrance, you can clearly see that Dean Ambrose is portraying the role of AJ Styles, whilst Rollins and Reigns walk out as Gallows and Anderson.

Roman Reigns decided to respond to the video by stating it was nothing but “Rotten” and thus taking a shot and mocking the WWE faction in the process. Obviously, Reigns has a lot of history with Styles, Gallows and Anderson following their lengthy feud, thus justifying his hate towards the faction.

However, Reigns was not the only person to respond to the video as Karl Anderson also quoted WWE’s tweet and tweeted out “#Wrestlemania34” indicating towards a match between the two groups at next year’s Wrestlemania event.

What’s next?

Roman Reigns and the recently reunited Shield are currently scheduled to battle the team of Cesaro, Sheamus, The Miz, Braun Strowman and Kane in the main event of the upcoming TLC pay-per-view.

On the other hand, AJ Styles, who recently lost his United States Championship, seems to be heading after the WWE Title now and it is likely that he will challenge Jinder Mahal for the belt very soon. As for Gallows and Anderson, the two are in the Raw Tag Team division and are stuck in the mid-card facing off against the likes of Jason Jordan and Apollo Crews.

Author’s Take

Personally, I’m a huge fan of both The Club and The Shield and would love to see them collide in the near future, especially at Wrestlemania, as a match between the two groups would be off the charts.

But first, I would like to see WWE build up Gallows and Anderson and make them much more credible challengers, then they could reunite with AJ Styles over on SmackDown LIVE.
