What's the story?

In a recent interview with sport360, Roman Reigns commented on a variety of topics including him facing Triple H and being compared to other legendary wrestlers.

In case you didn't know...

Roman Reigns who is currently part of the faction "The Shield" won the intercontinental championship on RAW two weeks ago by defeating the Miz; now becoming a grand slam champion.

Roman, a former WWE Champion has also main-evented Wrestlemania for the past three years, picking up wins against legends like Triple H and Undertaker.

Reigns has already defended his IC Championship against Elias and Jason Jordan ever since winning it.

The Heart of The Matter

Roman has been constantly compared to legends like The Rock And John Cena; the belief is that much like these two, Roman is set to be the face of the company.

Roman, in the interview, stated that all though he is flattered by the comparisons, he wants to be his own man and not follow anybody's footsteps.

Here is an excerpt:

“I never look at it as being the next anybody, I just want to be first Roman Reigns. It’s very flattering, you’re in good company when you are being compared to John Cena and Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), but all I can be is me, all I can be is Roman Reigns and that’s all I want to be.”

Reigns also stated that it was a great honour for him to face "The Game" Triple H at the grandest WrestleMania. He said that he is proud and excited to be facing Tripple H yet again for their live event in Abu Dhabi.

What's next?

Roman has been hosting the Intercontinental Championship Challenge each week so it is safe to say that we will see Roman defend his Title every week on RAW.

Even though he is a singles champion, it will also be interesting to see how being a part of The Shield will affect his current run.

Author's take

Like him or not, it is clear that WWE wants him to be the next torch bearer for WWE after John Cena. Hence, it is only natural for people to draw comparisons between the two.

Their match at No Mercy 2017 was spectacular and I'm sure we will get to see a rematch soon. And even though The Rock's WWE schedule isn't clear, we may even get to see a clash between the two Samoan titans in the future.
