Samoa Joe might return to WWE sooner than we thought
Samoa Joe was one of several WWE Superstars who were released earlier this year. According to the latest reports, Joe is close to making his way back into the company. He is reportedly coming back on NXT in a non-wrestling role. WWE NXT General Manager William Regal hinted at a potential end to his time at the Black and Gold brand during his speech at TakeOver: In Your House.
Following that, Dave Meltzer reported that this could lead to Samoa Joe replacing William Regal on NXT. He insisted that Joe has a job on NXT and it won’t require him to compete inside the squared circle. Here’s what Meltzer had to say:
“So, I think that’s the cue for Samoa Joe. I don’t know that 100%. I was told today that Samoa Joe was gonna be in a Regal-like role, then all of a sudden Regal’s talking like he’s stepping down, so maybe the Regal-like role is Regal’s role. But if he’s leaving, based on what I was told, Samoa Joe was definitely the favorite to be the new Commissioner.”

“But Joe is in, and he’s in as a non-wrestler, so I think that tells you that he’s not cleared. He’s taken a job in NXT and he’s doing something there, and he may be the new authority figure on television, or he may not be. But he’s gonna be behind-the-scenes.”
William Regal shocked the WWE Universe when he came out for his usual address during NXT TakeOver: In Your House. He talked about how he has never seen such madness in all his time at the Black and Gold brand. Towards the end, Regal stated that it is ‘time for a change’ and sent WWE fans into a frenzy by hinting at resignation from his current post.
