WWE Champion Bobby Lashley recently revealed that he originally wanted SmackDown Superstar Apollo Crews to be a part of The Hurt Business on RAW. This was back when Crews was still on the Red brand where he worked as a face.

Lashley praised the former Intercontinental Champion for his talent and stated that they went for Cedric Alexander after they couldn’t recruit Crews to the stable.

“Before we got Cedric, we went after Ricochet and we went after Apollo,” Lashley said. “I really wanted Apollo, I really wanted Apollo, because we were doing it as a character but at the same time we were doing it as, ‘I think I know what these guys need.’ Apollo… great, great, great talent, but I was like, ‘Man, you’re almost too nice. You just seem like, all right, I can do cool moves, but nobody’s ever really gonna get behind you.’ I was like, ‘Man, come to The Hurt Business and we’re gonna teach you how to hurt people.’”

Apollo Crews enjoyed a decent run with the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown. Last Friday, he lost his title to Shinsuke Nakamura and is now expected to seek a title rematch on the Blue brand. He currently has an alliance with Commander Azeez, who often aids him in dominating his in-ring bouts. But would he have done better as part of The Hurt Business on WWE RAW?
