"I'm afraid I've got some bad news...."

What’s the story?

During the latest episode of Conversation With The Big Guy podcast, former WWE superstar Ryback talked about his friendship with Wade Barrett and why, in his own opinion, he didn't achieve the success he deserved.

In case you did not know…

Wade Barrett was considered by many fans one of the most promising stars within the WWE environment and a huge candidate to win the WWE Championship but it never happened.

From becoming the winner of the first season of NXT, way before it became the show that it is today, to the leader of Nexus and then the intercontinental champion, it seemed that the British superstar had all the tools to succeed, but Vince McMahon never pulled the trigger on him.

The heart of the matter

Ryback explained that Wade Barrett was screwed by the WWE machine and he hopes to see him doing great in other companies. The Big Guy stated:

"It still baffles my mind that a guy like him has never won the WWE title. I mean, he was a great wrestler, had a great look and all the tools to succeed in the WWE, but the higher-ups never really capitalized on his success. I think he made the right choice by leaving that place and I truly hope he can be himself in other places. Nobody deserves it more than him".

What’s next?

Wade Barrett is currently enjoying his life outside WWE and taking bookings in the independents. Right now, he's the general manager of Defiant Wrestling, the rebranded WCPW, but a future return in the WWE is not off the cards.

He recently teased on his Instagram page an appearance in the upcoming Royal Rumble match, so never say never.

Author’s take

Wade Barrett was one of the most underrated superstars to ever step foot inside a WWE ring and although he feuded with top stars such as John Cena and Randy Orton, he never had a run with the major title. Maybe he can rebrand himself, just like Drew Mcintyre did, and deliver some bad news again in the future.
