What’s the Story?

Samoa Joe had a message for SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon and his decision to join Team SmackDown in their upcoming Survivor Series Match.

In case you didn’t know...

SmackDown invaded Raw after the TLC pay-per-view and laid waste to a majority of the Raw roster. Both brands began building up their teams for the Survivor Series pay-per-view and will feature both men and women’s teams from Raw and SmackDown going head-to-head.

The Raw Men’s Team is comprised of Braun Strowman, Finn Bálor, Jason Jordan, Kurt Angle and Joe while SmackDown’s Men’s Team is comprised of Bobby Roode, John Cena, Randy Orton, Shane McMahon and Shinsuke Nakamura.

The heart of the matter

Joe said that “men are privy to follow two paths in life; the path of ego and the path of wisdom” and suggested that McMahon adding himself to the SmackDown Men’s Team was the path of ego.

This isn’t the first time McMahon has included himself in a Survivor Series match as he did the exact same thing last year at the request of SmackDown’s General Manager Daniel Bryan.

Last year’s SmackDown Men’s Team emerged from Survivor Series victorious and continued the tradition of SmackDown beating Raw in their brand battles. McMahon played a part in eliminating Strowman from the match last year but was removed from the match after being knocked out by a spear from Roman Reigns.

What’s next?

Next week is the final week of WWE television before the Survivor Series pay-per-view and fans have been expecting Raw to get payback on the SmackDown brand for their invasion and assault weeks ago.

If Raw does retaliate, it’s expected to occur next week and could be a Raw invasion on SmackDown Live, but that is pure speculation.

Author’s take

While McMahon doesn’t have the best history with Survivor Series, history dictates that the SmackDown Men’s Team has a greater chance of emerging victorious.
