What’s the story?

During last night’s WWE live event in Jackson, Mississippi, two of Smackdown’s most elite superstars Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn expressed their views on their upcoming WWE Title match at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

In case you didn’t know…

During last week’s episode of SmackDown Live, General Manager Daniel Bryan decided to make a huge announcement for the Royal Rumble PPV as he revealed that AJ Styles’ next WWE Title challengers will be both Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens, at the very same time.

Styles, who defeated Jinder Mahal to win the WWE Title in 2017, is now all set to go through his toughest test as the WWE Champion as he prepares to defend his world title in a 2-on-1 handicap match against Kevin and Sami.

The heart of the matter

At last night’s show in Jackson, Mississippi; Owens and Zayn decided to send a bold message to both AJ Styles and Smackdown commissioner Shane McMahon. “The Prizefighter” first started off by saying at the Royal Rumble he and his tag team partner are finally getting what they deserve and that is a fair shot at the WWE Championship.

Additionally, Owens also answered all the critics by saying that he and Sami have been battling the numbers game for a while now on Smackdown Live and Shane McMahon is the one to blame for all this confusion and disruption that has been caused on the blue brand, in the past few months.

The former Universal Champion then went on to praise GM Daniel Bryan by stating that he is a very sensible and a great man, and now at the Royal Rumble Owens and Zayn are all set to take the WWE Championship away from AJ Styles because they are better than The Phenomenal One.

What’s next?

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view will take place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia on January 28th, 2018 and within a few weeks’ time AJ Styles will have to prepare mentally and physically in order to go through the hardest challenge of his WWE career so far—other than the exclusion of “The Beast” Brock Lesnar.

Author’s Take

The WWE Title match at the Royal Rumble will certainly be a very interesting one, this title match could potentially be the beginning of the end for the duo of Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens or the two former NXT stars could legitimately cement their position on Smackdown Live.
