Recently, it was being speculated as to why Sami Zayn didn’t have a match on the SummerSlam card despite winning his feud with Kevin Owens, winning a match that was considered as the match of the year by many. He had such a great wave of momentum, but for some reason, he wasn’t featured in any feud, or barely on the post-draft Raw leading up to SummerSlam, with no feud whatsoever.
Neville as well has had a rather lackluster return. It is being speculated that he will be one of the key figures of the Cruiserweight division, which will be introduced in September after the Cruiserweight Classic finishes. It is also being reported that WWE has issued for the creation of a Cruiserweight championship, which makes sense, since the members of the Cruiserweight division will need a top prize to fight for. Perhaps The man the gravity forgot could be the inaugural Cruiserweight Champion.
The Dudley Boyz returned last year on the Raw after SummerSlam. Their purpose of return was evidently to help put younger teams over, which they have undoubtedly done. They helped to elevate tag teams, especially The New Day, to the next level. They turned heel in February, and have got lost in the shuffle themselves. Recently, a break up has been teased by them.
With all of the above mentioned stars having nothing going for them in the build to SummerSlam, WWE officially announced that Sami Zayn will be teaming up with Neville to take on The Dudley Boyz in the Kickoff show. The Kickoff Show will be 2 hours long, while the main card will be 4 hours long.
