What's the story?

WrestlingInc.com is reporting on a recent appearance that Sami Zayn made on Edge & Christian's podcast The E&C Pod of Awesomeness. Within the interview they discussed a range of topics including how the vision Sami Zayn has for his new heel persona differs from Vince McMahon's.

In case you didn't know...

Sami Zayn began wrestling professionally in 2002 for several independent promotions before signing with the WWE in 2013. During his entire 15-year career he was always a babyface, and the heel turn at Hell In A Cell was the first time that Zayn would become a bad guy.

The heart of the matter

Though he didn't go into detail what his plans were for his heel character, he did put over Vince as a genius for his idea that Sami implemented in the first couple weeks of his heel turn. Sami would go into further detail about his thoughts on Vince's opinions below:

"Vince's vision is super-different and I kind of get when people call him a 'genius', I kind of get it in a sense because call it 'genius' or call it whatever you want, but there's no debating that his mind works different than everybody else's does, so everybody else will see things one way and he'll see it one completely different way. So his vision for me as a heel was completely different from how I viewed it, but as soon as I did it for the first week or the second week, and now I've gotten a couple of house shows under my belt, I'm like, 'oh, man. He's so right!' He's right."

From Zayn's quote, I would assume that Sami wanted to completely change his personality as a heel, and be angry and mad like Kevin Owens is all the time. Then Vince countered with Sami should actually stay the same, but be more obnoxious.

Keep the same entrance music and the same happy demeanor on your entrance, just be more annoying and cocky. Act like you've done nothing wrong and are still genuinely a good guy.

What's next?

Sami and Kevin both failed to qualify for SmackDown Live's team at Survivor Series losing to Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura, respectively. With Survivor Series coming up on November 19th, they may try to sabotage the team led by their nemesis Shane McMahon.

Author's take

It was truly a surprise when Sami came out to pull Kevin off of the table at Hell In A Cell, but I'm glad he did. The heel turn and union of Zayn and Owens has been one of the best things going on SmackDown Live today.
