What’s the story

Prior to next weekend’s WrestleMania 34 event in New Orleans, WWE Raw superstar Samoa Joe was interviewed by Al Arabiya in order to talk about WWE’s upcoming Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia for which Joe is currently being advertised.

In case you didn’t know…

A few months ago, while facing off against Rhyno in a singles match, former NXT Champion Samoa Joe suffered a devastating foot injury that caused him to be pulled from WWE’s recently concluded Mixed Match Challenge, the 2017 Royal Rumble event, and as well as from WrestleMania 34.

Joe is currently sidelined due to the right foot injury and has undergone MRI since. WWE’s Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann also said that during his match against Rhyno, Samoa Joe apparently felt a pop on his right foot which eventually caused the injury.

The heart of the matter

During his interview with Al Arabiya, Samoa Joe was asked about his thoughts on Daniel Bryan being medically cleared to compete once again aswell as “The American Dragon’s” return to the ring this Sunday at WrestleMania.

Joe responded by noting that he has considered Daniel Bryan as his friend throughout his career and has always wished for Bryan’s well-being as a person.

“I would hate to see anything permanently bad happen to him. At the same time, I know he's been fighting the fight really hard the past few years, and do everything within his power to medically prove that he's capable and fit to compete in the ring. Knowing Bryan as long as I've known him, if he's attacked that with the same ferocity that he's attacked his abilities as a professional wrestler, I have no doubt that he's ready to get back in that ring and I'm looking forward to seeing what he's able to do."

In addition, Joe also commented on his relationship with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and claimed that his talks with Vince McMahon have always been relatively brief and short.

"I'm terrible at small talk, so me and Vince's relationship is—I don't want to say dispassionate, but when we have talks, they're very brief, short, we lay out a few things and I go from there. It's not a lot of, 'hey how are you doin', how's this, how's that'. It's calling the play, what do we need to get done, and I go out and get it done."

What’s next

The WWE Universe is currently waiting on the mega return of Samoa Joe and we can certainly expect to see the return of the “Samoan Submission Machine” following the conclusion of WrestleMania 34.

Author’s Take

Samoa Joe and Daniel Bryan have a lot of history with each other, thanks to their days together in Ring of Honor. A match between the two men in the near future would certainly be an amazing contest.
