What's the story?

Seth Rollins overcome the odds at WrestleMania 34 when he managed to defeat The Miz and Finn Balor in a triple threat match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship and become a Grand Slam Champion.

In case you didn't know...

The Architect hasn't been able to pick up the Intercontinental Championship in the past five years that he has been on the main roster, which has left him as the only former member of The Shield who isn't a Grand Slam Champion. Dean Ambrose became the youngest Grand Slam Champion back at SummerSlam when he won the Tag Team Championships alongside Rollins, whilst Roman Reigns took the title as Grand Slam Champion when he defeated The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship late last year.

The heart of the matter

Seth Rollins defeated The Miz and Finn Balor in a triple threat match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 34, the match that opened the show and he became a Grand Slam Champion with this victory.

Rollins, The Miz, and Balor put on a fantastic match with a number of near fall attempts before Seth was able to pin The Miz after a curb stomp to write his name in the history books.

What's next?

Rollins, Balor, and The Miz are expected to continue their feud moving forward since most live events have Balor and Rollins facing off, whilst it's rumored that The Miz could take some time away following the birth of his daughter last Friday.

Author's take

Rollins hasn't picked up a singles Championship since he defeated Roman Reigns back at Money in the Bank 2016 and Ambrose then cashed in on Rollins a few minutes later to dethrone him. It's been a long two years for Rollins but it seems that he's finally in a position where he could have a lengthy mid-card run with the title and has Balor and Miz to support him throughout.
