What’s the Story?

Raw Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins was given the moniker of “CrossFit Jesus” by fans and said it was a wonderful nickname.

In Case You Didn’t Know

CrossFit is a fitness regimen that encompasses aspects of gymnastics, weightlifting, running, rowing and more. The exercise regiment was founded by Greg Glassman in 2000 and there are over 13,000 CrossFit affiliates.

The Heart of the Matter

Rollins was interviewed by ESPN and said that the main reason the name “CrossFit Jesus” came about was because of his passion for the fitness regimen and his resemblance to the western depictions of Jesus Christ.

“I think I bear a striking resemblance to the western version of Jesus Christ of Nazareth facially with my own beard and long hair and stuff like that. and I’m always talking about CrossFit, so somewhere along the line, somebody put that together and came up with the CrossFit Jesus moniker, which is fantastic. I think it’s wonderful. It’s funny and it’s correct and my wrestling school made a T-shirt out of it.”

Rollins also said that he began implementing CrossFit into his training after a friend suggested it “mimicked” how he felt during a match.

"I figured it would behoove me to maybe put some of this into my training. And the more and more I got into it, the more and more I started to fall in love with the training paradigm."

What’s Next?

Rollins is considered by many to be one of the best wrestlers within the company and his exercise regimen seems to be one of the biggest reasons why the Kingslayer is as captivating as he is.

Rollins spent much of 2017 in the mid-card, but the former WWE Champion will return to the main event scene once he loses the Raw Tag Team Championships.

Author’s Take

CrossFit is an intense fitness program and considering what we’ve seen Rollins do in the ring, its no wonder he’s one of the WWE’s best.
