What's the Story?

After Kevin Owens accepted Seth Rollins' challenge for the Intercontinental Championship, WWE made the match official for this week's episode of Monday Night Raw.

In Case You Didn't Know

Rollins has defended the Intercontinental Championship on Raw as part of his Open Challenge which started after the Greatest Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

Finn Bálor and Mojo Rawley are the only participants to have accepted the Open Challenge thus far.

The Heart of the Matter

Rollins sent out a tweet saying he wanted to continue the Open Challenge for Raw in London and wanted to see who would step up to the plate next.

Cruiserweight Champion Cedric Alexander responded with the hopes of getting a Champion versus Champion match against Rollins and many fans hoped that WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne would respond to the challenge in a surprise appearance.

However, WWE focused all their attention on Owens and released a video of him accepting the match on Twitter and was the only wrestler Rollins responded to directly.

Rollins and Owens had several matches in the midst of their 2016 feud which centered around Rollins' issues with Triple He and the Universal Championship.

Despite the matches being plagued with interference by Chris Jericho, Rollins and Owens always produced good matches in their feud and the same will be expected of them for this week's Raw.

What's Next?

The Intercontinental Championship Open Challenge is the only match formally announced for the show at the time of this writing.

The only other matches that could be booked for the show are the Men's and Women's Money in the Bank Qualifying Matches.

Author's Take

With the roll Rollins has been on and the in-ring ability of both men, this match is more than likely going be the best on the show.
