WWE News: Fans treated to several major surprises at NXT UK Plymouth tapings

What's the story?

Fans in attendance at the night one taping of NXT UK in Plymouth were treated to a few major surprises as several NXT Superstars - The Street Profits, Shayna Baszler, and Matt Riddle made their presence felt in the UK and a WWE legend shocked everyone by appearing and addressing the crowd.

In case you didn't know...

The Plymouth tapings are the last set of tapings for NXT UK before we head into the second NXT UK TakeOver show, which takes place in Cardiff on August 31st. The only match announced for that show so far was Toni Storm Vs. Kay Lee Ray.

However, during the tapings, a major bombshell was dropped as Tyler Bates emerged to confront Walter and officially cemented himself as the UK Champion's next challenger at Cardiff.

The heart of the matter

On top of some fantastic wrestling matches and some significant developments on the road to NXT UK TakeOver: Cardiff, fans in attendance for night one of NXT UK's Plymouth tapings also got to see several Superstars from NXT in action, including the current NXT Women's and NXT Tag Team Champions.

Shayna Baszler emerged from the back to confront an already down-and-out Xia Brookside and rub salt into the wound by attacking her. Baszler will be wrestling Brookside at tomorrow's tapings. At the moment it's unclear if this is an actual television angle or just for live fans.

It won't make television but the dark match main event was a real treat for everyone. When James Drake, Zack Gibson and Joe Connors revealed they were challenging anyone in the world - up stepped NXT Tag Team Champions The Street Profits and 'King of Bros' Matt Riddle. Hilarity ensued.

On top of that fans were also treated to an appearance from British and WWE legend William Regal who was there to 'talk business with Johnny Saint and just wanted to say 'hi'. Regal made an emotional speech to the crowd saying that he dreamt of bringing wrestling to the UK and here it was.
