Shane McMahon recently stepped down from his role as the SmackDown Live Commissioner and was then attacked by Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn.

Although McMahon was initially expected to compete in a match on the upcoming WrestleMania 34 card, he seemingly flew to the Caribbean with his family for a vacation.

The heart of the matter

The WWE recently revealed on its official website that Shane McMahon was hospitalized after he suffered an infection owing to acute diverticulitis—something that is said to have surfaced during his aforementioned family vacation.

McMahon was transported to a local medical facility, following which he was flown back to New York, and is presently hospitalized and being administered a heavy dosage of antibiotics.

Furthermore, the WWE also noted that McMahon suffered an umbilical hernia after being attacked by Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn on a recent edition of SmackDown Live—with doctors noting that the injury would require Shane to undergo surgery, that would only be possible after his infection subsides.

Regardless of his medical issues, McMahon seems to be optimistic about his health and posted a photo alongside his children on Instagram with the following caption—“Thank you everyone for the get well wishes. It truly helps. Im healing up, and I have the best medicine in the world with me.”
