WWE News: Shaquille O Neal explains his side of the story regarding his proposed WrestleMania match

Shaq and the Big Show were set to clash in Orlando, but the plans fell apart...

What’s the story?

Shaquille O’Neal recently had his 100th episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq on Podcast One, where he spoke about the WrestleMania match with the Big Show that never happened. According to Shaq, the WWE kept changing how things were going to play out and then cancelled it altogether. Once they cancelled it, Shaq made other plans.

In case you didn’t know...

The feud between Shaq and the Big Show started at WrestleMania 32. Shaq was a surprise entrant in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal and had a stare down with Big Show during the course of the Battle Royal.

The heart of the matter

The match was announced after last year’s WrestleMania in Dallas. As this year’s WrestleMania kept getting closer, people began to notice that the WWE wasn’t talking about it and started to ask questions.

Finally, the WWE would kill the match altogether by making Big Show an entrant in the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. This would lead to both sides blaming the other for the match not becoming a reality.

What’s next?

For Shaq, you can find him on TNT’s Inside The NBA for their in-studio coverage of the ongoing NBA Playoffs. Big Show is coming off a huge moment on Monday Night Raw last week when he and Braun Strowman made the ring collapse in the main event.

Author’s take

This is a situation where no one wins. I don’t blame Shaq or the Big Show, I blame WWE management for not being committed. It affects Big Show more because he deserved a WrestleMania moment as a reward for working hard to get in the best shape of his wrestling career.

Instead, he gets an unceremonious quick elimination from a match on the pre-show.
