Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable enter the arena on a recent SmackDown Live

What's the story?

Wrestling Inc. is reporting on a recent interview that SmackDown Live star Shelton Benjamin had with "X-Pac" Sean Waltman on his X-Pac 12360 podcast. During this interview, they discussed the incident where Benjamin found a loaded gun in his rental car last month and the aftermath of that unfortunate situation.

In case you didn't know...

Benjamin began his professional wrestling career in WWE's developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling in 2000 and would remain with the WWE until his release in 2010. He would return in August of 2017 to replace Jason Jordan as Chad Gable's tag team partner.

The heart of the matter

On February 7th, Benjamin would tweet the following:

Waltman would ask Benjamin what happened after he found the gun, and he said:

"I will say Budget has reached out to me , the car company. I spoke with a few of their reps and they have offered me certain compensations. I'm not going to say what … but you know it's cool."

Waltman would follow up with asking Benjamin if he was satisfied with the outcome from Budget, and he stated that considering that things could have gone much worse than they did, he's fine with the outcome and is happy that this gun is now off the streets.

Coincidentally enough, Benjamin was pulled over by the police for speeding two days before discovering the gun. Lucky for him, he kept his information on the dash and not in the glove box, and he explained that everything went just fine with the cop:

"I rented on a Sunday and I dropped it off Wednesday morning. But Monday night while going to the town we were going to have the TV taping, I got pulled over for speeding. Luckily, I have great cop etiquette. I didn't look in the glove compartment, he asked me for my information and I normally keep it on the dashboard, so I just handed it to him. And it was cool."

What's next?

Benjamin and Gable continue their quest for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships, and there are rumors that they could be part of a multi-team match at WrestleMania. Stay tuned to Sportskeeda for further information as the WrestleMania card takes shape.

Author's take

One can only imagine the fiasco that Benjamin would have been in if he was arrested wrongfully for having a loaded gun in his car. Thankfully this story's ending was not a tragic one and everyone can go about with their lives normally.

Now that we know he was pulled over two days before finding the gun, we all understand even further why Benjamin was as mad as he was after the discovery.
