WWE News: Singh Brothers on which WWE legend told them pairing up with Jinder Mahal was a good idea

The
The Singh Brothers have been the kayfabe reason for Jinder Mahal's success

What's the story?

On a recent episode of Talk Is Jericho, Chris Jericho sat down with Jinder Mahal's on-screen lackeys, The Singh Brothers. Among the things they spoke about, The Singh Brothers revealed that it was none other than Y2J, Chris Jericho, himself who said that the brothers should pair with Jinder Mahal even before it happened.

In case you didn't know...

The Singh Brothers first aligned with Jinder Mahal two weeks after WrestleMania 33 on SmackDown Live. It was a Six-pack challenge to determine the #1 contender to Randy Orton's WWE Championship.

Much to everyone's shock, it was then-jobber Jinder Mahal who picked up the victory thanks to the help of Sunil and Samir Singh. Prior to that, the duo were known as The Bollywood Boyz and were on 205 Live before being quickly taken off.

The heart of the matter

The Singh Brothers mentioned to Jericho that it was he who initially pitched the idea to them about pairing up while they were all in catering(H/T credits WrestlingInc):

[Jericho] called it! Remember? When we first came up from 205, like the RAW before the very first 205, me, Gurv, and Jinder were just in catering, we were standing and talking, and [Jericho was] like, 'you guys should be a team!' and you just walked away.

To this claim, Jericho responded that he should be a booker in WWE and also mentioned other things that he's gotten spot on before:

I'm a prophet and I'll tell you the reason why. I called John Cena back when no one thought anything of it. I called The New Day as the biggest babyfaces in the company when they were trying to make them, well, they were trying to make them s--tty babyfaces. I said, 'they'd be way better as heels than babyfaces. Then Enzo [Amore] in the cruiserweights. I called that one. Then, you guys being a team. I should be booking this place, man!

If this is the case, Jericho truly should be a booker. He has an eye for things that a lot of people don't have backstage.

What's next?

The Singh Brothers will have a confrontation soon with the most intimidating challenge yet: The Beast Incarnate Brock Lesnar. The duo are bound to take some heavy bumps for the Universal Champion come Survivor Series.

Author's take

Chris Jericho does have a really good eye out for certain things creatively. One of the advantages he holds over most backstage officials is that he knows how things are from the perspective of the talent themselves.

Hopefully, The Singh Brothers continue to have a successful career, even wrestling themselves. They seem like genuine, hardworking people who are happy to be living their dream.
