WWE News: Summer Rae dealing with injury

Summer Rae hasn’t appeared on tv since being drafted to Raw

Since coming to the main roster, Summer Rae was barely featured. She only properly returned to in-ring action earlier this year, having her first couple of matches against Charlotte in Live Events in India. She also was involved in the road to Wrestlemania, aligning herself with former rival Lana and also with Emma, Naomi, and Tamina. She was with her allies in a ten diva tag team match on the Wrestlemania 32 pre-show, being on the losing end. After Wrestlemania 32 as well, she was barely featured. Her last televised appearance was on an episode of Main Event where she was defeated by Sasha Banks. In fact, post-Wrestlemania, she was intended to get involved in a program with Sasha Banks. Charlotte, the newly crowned women’s champion was feuding with Natalya and Becky Lynch was feuding with Emma and Dana Brooke. That would’ve been an interesting program, but Sasha Banks got injured during the time. Summer Rae was drafted to the Raw brand in July. However, even after the draft, it was the same story. Except that now we know the reason why. Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Summer Rae is dealing with multiple injuries. She recently posted a picture of herself on Snapchat wearing a neck traction device. Summer Rae met with WWE doctors in August and said that she was dealing with neck, back and elbow injuries. She had been working through pain for some months now but waited until the MRI results came in to reveal how serious the injuries were. Summer Rae stopped wrestling even on house shows last month. She is expected to meet the doctors next month. It is not known how long Summer Rae will be out of action, but it comes at a bad time. The draft has given the women even more opportunities to shine. Though Raw has not been utilizing their female talent as much as Smackdown Live, they have still been giving the ball to some talents to run with. Summer Rae would be a good addition to the female roster.

Summer has very good in-ring psychology and has definitely been underutilized throughout. Even her character is solid, and she can cut a good promo. Once she returns from injury, she should be able to get a good place on the female roster, feuding with the likes of Bayley, among others.
