Kofi Kingston recently spoke to The Sun about a variety of topics, including his match against Brock Lesnar.
Kingston lost the WWE Championship to Lesnar in an underwhelming 7-second match during SmackDown's premiere episode on FOX in October, and as expected, the booking decision drew the ire of the WWE Universe.
The New Day member admitted that he would have loved to put together a longer and more compelling match against The Beast Incarnate. He even fought for his plan to come to fruition, however, sadly, the officials had other ideas.
Kingston realized how the business works and conceded that some things are beyond his control.
The former WWE Champion added that he was grateful that he was allowed to live his dream of holding the top title of the company. He also highlighted the fact that six-month title reigns don't happen quite often and he enjoyed his time at the top while it lasted.
The 38-year-old WWE veteran has no time to dwell in a 'dark space of negative energy' and intends to achieve a lot more while he is still an active competitor.

“I was in the same boat as everybody else. You never know what is going to happen that day when you get to the building. I would have loved to have a longer match because I feel like the story that Brock and I could have told could have been a lot more compelling than it was.
"At the same time, you realize it is a business and what the boss wants at one point is what the boss wants. I let go of trying to control what I couldn’t control a long time ago. That’s not to say I didn’t try to fight for a longer match or a more compelling story, but that’s not the route they wanted to go.”
"That’s the nature of the business. You can be mad and complain and come to work miserable, but I had a six-month title reign, which is few and far between.
"I got to achieve my dream and I’m all about pushing forward, to strive to achieve great things rather than dwell in this dark space of negative energy. That’s not me. I want to maximize my time here to achieve as much as I can.” H/t Credit: The Sun
For the WWE, Lesnar is a special attraction. The Beast Incarnate shows up every once in a while and is rarely a part of 20+ min epics that the fans love to see on PPVs.
Lesnar's longest match came against Daniel Bryan at last year's Survivor Series, which crossed the 18-minute mark. WWE follows a tried-and-tested pattern with Lesnar and expecting anything else would be foolish.
Kingston's solid reign didn't deserve the ending that it got, but it's not his fault that he came up against the strongest booked Superstar in the company.
