What's the story?

The Miz interrupted John Cena as he opened Monday Night Raw this week and was then handed the challenge of facing Cena in a match where the loser would enter the Elimination Chamber first. It seems that The Miz may have ruined his chances of facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania since he lost the match.

In case you didn't know...

John Cena and The Miz have a long history and even faced each other in mixed tag team action at last year's WrestleMania. It seems that the issues between the stars will never be resolved and have managed to rear their heads once again ahead of the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view.

Along with Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns and Elias, The Miz and John Cena have already qualified for the main event match but Elias ensured that he was the last man to enter the structure last week when he pinned Cena in their triple threat match.

Rumours currently suggest that Reigns will be the man to walk out of the Elimination Chamber as the number one contender to Brock Lesnar's Universal Championship since it is thought that Roman Reigns vs Brock Lesnar is the current plan for WrestleMania.

The heart of the matter

Miz accepted John Cena's challenge of a match to determine who would be the structure's first victim but only after The Miztourage had already beaten Cena down. Despite this, the match was made by General Manager Kurt Angle, who ejected Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel from ringside before the bout officially began.

Miz lost the match after an Avalanche AA which now means that he somehow has to find a way past five other men if he has any hope of becoming Brock Lesnar's next challenger.

What's next?

John Cena and Miz will both be part of the Elimination Chamber match on February 25th, and it will be interesting to see whether or not Miz can overcome such huge odds.

Author's take

Elimination Chamber used to be about chance, but it seems that Miz and Elias have already guaranteed their positions in the match, which takes a lot of chance out of the match.

It seems that only Strowman, Reigns, Cena and the final participant in the match will have their positions left down to chance next weekend. The Miz is such a good heel that him going in at number one would always be something that the WWE Universe would react to.
