What’s the story?
On a recent edition of E&C’s Pod of Awesomeness, Jimmy and Jey Uso narrated a crazy incident that transpired during their rookie years where Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas rag-dolled them in the gym.
Speaking of the gym incident, The Usos revealed that Benjamin and Haas took them to a 24-hour Fitness gym and wrestled with them, back when Jimmy and Jey hadn’t even signed a contract with the WWE.
As per The Usos, Benjamin and Haas threw them around at will; in fact, the latter went to the extent of delivering one of the hardest arm-drags on them, quite literally beating the snot out of the current SmackDown Tag Team Champions.
In case you didn’t know…
Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas were part of the popular stable ‘Team Angle’ back in the day, under the leadership of current RAW General Manager Kurt Angle.
Benjamin and Haas were known for their amateur wrestling backgrounds and were widely regarded as two of the best shoot-wrestlers in the WWE back in the day, alongside Angle, Brock Lesnar and a few others.
The heart of the matter
Jimmy and Jey Uso initially spoke about performing with American Alpha (Jason Jordan and Chad Gable), alluding that their matches with the former NCAA standouts were enjoyable. They also lamented the fact that the ‘Usos vs American Alpha’ feud had ended too soon.
Additionally, the Usos drew a comparison between American Alpha and the team of Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas, narrating an incident where the former Team Angle dragged Jimmy and Jey to a gym before destroying them.
They elaborated on Benjamin and Haas’ insane technique and power, stating:
“The first time we ever locked up with Charlie Haas it was like a soft lockup. He was like, 'do it again.' We went to lock up again (and) 'boom', snot came out our nose, 'this is how you lock up.' I was like, 'what the? I don't think I want to do this.'”
“Man, he gave me one of the hardest arm-drags. I set in for an arm-drag and he snapped me so fast, man.' I was like, 'okay.' Now, I knew what I was getting into."
What’s next?
Shelton Benjamin has returned to the WWE after a lengthy hiatus, proceeding to team up with Chad Gable on SmackDown Live.
On that note, the Usos presently hold the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships and are likely on a collision course with Benjamin & Gable after Jimmy and Jey are done with their feud against The New Day.

In my opinion, Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas have always been two of the most under-appreciated talents in the professional wrestling business.
With Benjamin back into the thick of it in the WWE, here’s hoping we get to see a bunch of awesome showdowns with him and Gable taking on the Usos.
