WWE News: Tommy Dreamer angry with WWE over The Hardy Boyz

Tommy Dreamer had another issue with WWE

What’s the story?

As reported by Wrestling News, former ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer was frustrated with WWE over an issue with an independent booking involving The Hardy Boyz. The champs are scheduled to defend their titles this Sunday against Cesaro & Sheamus.

In case you didn’t know...

Despite signing on the dotted line with WWE, the company told Matt and Jeff that they would be allowed to finish up their independent bookings. One of those bookings included a scheduled match at Saturday night’s House of Hardcore show, which is an up and coming promotion owned by none other than former WWE superstar Tommy Dreamer.

The Heart of the matter

According to the report, The Hardys had been booked to face Bully Ray & Dreamer in a match that had been promoted for months by the company. Unfortunately, WWE seemingly went back on their word by saying that they couldn’t wrestle and would only be able to make an appearance in Philadelphia.

Because of this, Dreamer booked The Young Bucks as a replacement – however one member of the duo got sick which threw yet another spanner into the works for Tommy. Many people close to him stated that it was the angriest they’d seen Dreamer since ECW closed their doors, but thankfully Vince McMahon & Triple H eventually did sign off on the match in time for it to take place.

What’s next?

It’s not clear how many bookings The Hardy Boyz have left to attend to, but we can’t imagine WWE will want them wrestling at too many other independent shows with the risk of injury always looming large. The brothers will now begin preparations for their Raw Tag Team Championship bout against Sheamus and Cesaro at the WWE Payback event.

Author’s take

We aren’t surprised that Dreamer got angry at WWE following this series of events, but it shows that they’re willing to stick to their word with Triple H and Vince eventually signing off on the deal. We’d prefer to see the tag team champions wrestle exclusively for WWE now, as an injury could really mess up the flow of the tag division on Monday Night Raw.
