Maryse and
Maryse and Miz were an integral part of the seventh season of Total Divas...

What's the story?

On Monday morning, the WWE announced on their Twitter account that Total Divas is going to return for not just an eighth season, but the ninth season has also been given the green light as well.

In case you didn't know...

Total Divas gives a look into personal lives of the WWE's women and their significant others. The series debuted on the E! Network on July 28, 2013, and past episodes can be found on the WWE Network.

The heart of the matter

The 100th episode of Total Divas marked the end of season seven this past February. There was a lot going on in this 100th episode, including the wedding plans for John Cena and Nikki Bella, who have since ended their relationship, the feud between Natalya and Lana finally ended, and the stress of Miz and Maryse's child being due near WrestleMania.

Not many details were announced by the WWE today, but they confirmed a few familiar faces will return for season eight, as well as teasing a "blast from the past."

Amy Introcaso-Davis, the Executive Vice President for the E! Network provided the following comment to WWE.com:

“We are thrilled to have celebrated the 100th episode of this popular franchise and are grateful to announce two additional seasons,” said Amy Introcaso-Davis, E!’s Executive Vice President of Development and Production. “The series will continue to give a rare glimpse at a beloved cast of strong, diverse women whose big personalities, unique relationships and aspirational lifestyles have proven to resonate with our audience.”

What's next?

The third season of Total Bellas, which is a spin-off of Total Divas, will premiere in less than two weeks when it returns to the E! Network on Sunday, May 20th. It will definitely be an interesting season considering the break-up of John Cena and Nikki Bella.

Author's take

Total Divas is definitely an entertaining reality show. While some of the stories and such are fabricated, it's pretty cool to see these WWE Superstars in different environments.
