WWE EVP Triple H recently talked about the importance of the King of the Ring tournament, and the effect it had on his career. The Game was also asked about his favorite to win this year's tournament, and although he didn't name a specific Superstar, he did take the names of Drew McIntyre, Andrade, Samoa Joe, Buddy Murphy, and Cedric Alexander.

King of the Ring comes back

On a recent episode of Monday Night Raw, it was announced that the King of the Ring tournament was coming back, starting next week. The brackets were soon announced, and the finals of the tournament will be held at the upcoming Clash of Champions PPV.

King of the Ring was once a yearly staple in WWE, and had its own PPV during the '90s. Legendary wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Edge, and Triple H himself have won the famed tournament. Brock Lesnar's career shot through the sky upon winning the tournament back in 2002, soon after which he became the youngest WWE Champion in history.

Triple H's favorites

While sharing his thoughts on this year's line-up, Triple H threw in a bunch of names when he was hit with the question on who could win the whole thing at Clash of Champions. He finished his answer off with stating that it's hard to predict the winner.

It's a funny thing when you look at this year's tournament, the lineup, there are a lot of guys where you would think, 'These are definitely front-runners. Drew McIntyre, Samoa Joe, guys that are kind of destroyers, so to speak, but sometimes it's more endurance based, it's not one match, you move on and you're done with it. It's multiple matches, against top guys, so, sometimes having that endurance to last, to withstand an injury, to come out of one match not at one-hundred percent and still carry on. That might favor guys like Buddy Murphy or Cedric Alexander.
This is really one of those interesting tournaments when you start to lineup the names of people in it, Andrade, people like that. I could make half a list of people in there and say, 'These are favorites.' That is what will make this so interesting, you really cannot tell. When you get to the end there will be so many factors involved in this that you can't tell who will be the King of the Ring.

King of the Ring 2019 will kick off this Monday night on Raw.
