What's the story?

On this week's episode of Monday Night RAW, WWE announced two matches for the next show - Seth Rollins vs Braun Strowman and The Miz vs Roman Reigns for the Intercontinental Championship.

In case you didn't know...

This week, Monday Night RAW opened with a Miz TV segment with Roman Reigns as the guest. Miz and Roman Reigns got into a heated argument and RAW General Manager set up a non-title match between them. The match was won by Roman Reigns even after attempted interference from Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel, who form the Miztourage.

Braun Strowman answered Curt Hawkin's call for a challenge and destroyed him with ease and then went on to make his own call for a worthy challenger. Dean Ambrose answered the call and a match between the two took place which Strowman won.

The heart of the matter

Roman Reigns and Miz faced other in a non-title match where Reigns won but was then beaten down by the Miztourage after his victory. The Miztourage even mocked him by doing the 'Shield Fistbump' pose over Reigns' body after laying him down.

After the show, WWE announced the match as an Intercontinental Title contest on Twitter.

Seth Rollins faced Sheamus in a singles match and victorious on the night. He met up with his tag team partner Dean Ambrose backstage before the match and mentioned going to RAW General Manager Kurt Angle to get the match for next week. The match was later confirmed via WWE's Twitter.

What's next?

The matches are set to take place at the next Monday Night RAW show in Denver, Colorado on October 2, 2017, at the Pepsi Arena.

Author's take

The Miztourage mocking Reigns with the Shield Fistbump pose could just be the trigger needed for the reunion of The Shield. The Intercontinental Title match will likely end with Miztourage interfering and costing Roman the title, which won't be the worst thing for him.

Braun Strowman taking on Rollins in a singles contest will most probably end with the big man winning easily and Dean Ambrose rushing to his partner's aid. The two matches have good promise as far as entertainment is considered for the fans and if a Shield reunion is on the cards, this may just be the beginning.
