WWE News: Two Raw Superstars undergo name change

What's the story?

Well, it shouldn't really come as a surprise anymore. When you move from NXT, if you have a forename and a surname, there's a big chance you're losing one of them!

Whether you're Elias, Rusev, Big E or Cesaro or Andrade, WWE seems to much prefer single names for their Superstars - and Heavy Machinery have become the latest to minimise their monikers.

In case you didn't know...

At a combined weight of almost 700 pounds, there's no question as to why these former NXT Superstars are named Heavy Machinery - particularly when you see them in the ring.

Both men have rich amateur wrestling backgrounds. Tucker is a former NCAA All-American and was ranked as one of the top heavyweights in the country from 2011-13 - while Otis went 48-0 in high school competition and won a gold medal at the 2011 Junior Pan-American Games and a bronze medal at the 2014 Pan-American Games in Greco-Roman wrestling.

The latter was even a prospect for the 2012 Summer Olympic team, where he trained alongside Chad Gable.

Last night, the pair competed on RAW in a losing effort to try become number one contenders for the red brand's Tag Team Championships - a match won by The Revival.

The heart of the matter

Heavy Machinery's Otis Dozovic and Tucker Knight have become the two latest WWE Superstars to undergo a name change,

Following last night's episode of Monday Night RAW, WWE updated the profile pages for the tag team, and they're now merely known as Otis and Tucker.

At the time of writing, both Superstars' social media accounts still contain their surnames.

What's next?

Well, they could always get their surnames back, like Apollo Crews did, but there's a good chance that "Otis" and "Tucker" will simply be known as such going forward.

As for a reason? Well, maybe WWE just thinks single-word names are catchier, maybe not. We'll keep you updated on that front!
