WWE News: Big update on the filming of Paige's biopic
What's the story?
It was one of the worst kept secrets of the past few years when it comes to The Rock helping to create a biopic about Paige's life and her family in collaboration with WWE Studios.
Wrestling With My Family has been filming over the past year and after a number of delays due to issues in Paige's personal life, it seems that filming is finally complete.
In case you didn't know...
The Rock is a huge part of the movie as one of the producers of the film that also stars Lena Headey from Game of Thrones as Paige's mother Saraya Knight, Hollywood star Vince Vaughn as Jake "The Snake" Roberts and Nick Frost as Paige's father Ricky Knight.
The WWE star used an episode of Raw back in February to film one of Paige's most famous WWE moments, when she made her debut on the main roster and won the Divas Championship from AJ Lee, a role that was played by current NXT star Zelina Vega.
The film takes its name from the Channel 4 documentary that was made about Paige and her family a number of years ago. The documentary formed the basis of the film that The Rock then decided to begin working on at the beginning of this year. The former World Champion told Paige back at WrestleMania 30 that he wanted to make a movie about her family, it seems that it has just taken him a while to follow through on this promise.
There have been a number of delays in filming and production over the past year because of some of the scandals that Paige has been part of, but the British star is back on WWE TV and it seems that everything is back on track.
The heart of the matter
Stephen Merchant has played a huge role in bringing the movie to life as the director and he recently posted the following update on Instagram to confirm that the filming was officially finished for the movie.
Right now the movie is set for a release date of September 14th, 2018 in the United States provided that the movie doesn't meet any further delays in post-production.
Paige mentioned in her podcast with Lilian Garcia that she had already seen the movie and that it has made her cry. Many of the WWE Universe realised that this meant that the movie was almost complete and would perhaps only be waiting for a number of reshoots.
Now that it's officially complete, the WWE Universe has just nine months to wait until they can see it on the big screen.
Paige has been through so much over the past year that this was the kind of news that she needed, especially since Christmas is merely days away. She has such a unique history and comes from such a crazy family that the world deserves to know her story.
Paige touched on a few of the issues in her life in her podcast with Lilian Garcia a few weeks ago, but it seems that the film delves much deeper. The WWE Universe will finally be able to know the full story of The Anti-Diva.
