What's the story
Sir William Regal had an amazing career before being utilised in a backstage capacity. At this stage in his career, it is William Regal's job to watch all of the top talents from around the world and decide who would be the best fit for NXT. It's a daunting task but somebody has to do it and Regal is more than up to and qualified for the task. When asked who Regal wanted to have a match with on the WWE main roster or NXT, he replied that a man he saw come through NXT and is currently sitting on the top of the main roster was his ideal opponent.
In case you didn't know
While Shinsuke Nakamura was reigning as the NXT Champion, William Regal was sitting backstage the entire time probably with a big smile on his face knowing he had at least something to do with The King Of Strong Style coming into the WWE Universe.
Heart of the matter
When William Regal hung up his boots there was no real ceremony or send-off celebration of his career. He simply transitioned into a backstage role and has been doing his job very well since then.
One fan asked Regal who he would like to lock up with on the current roster while still reiterating that William Regal that he can still perform at a high level in the ring.
"If you could have one more match (which you can!) with anyone on the current WWE or NXT roster who would you pick?"
Sir William Regal's response was simple, but the message was a very strong one.
What's next
A match between Shinsuke Nakamura and William Regal might never happen, but you can never say never in WWE.
Author's take
An encounter between these two could be something special. Their styles would blend very nicely together and tell a great story in the ring. But with Regal currently so involved in everything NXT, it's highly unlikely this match will ever become a reality unless you make it happen in video game form.
