The roof would explode if this entrance were to actually happen!
The roof would explode if Beth Phoenix were to actually return!

What's the story?

Everyone's talking about the Women's Royal Rumble, from fans to women that have paved the way for the superstars of the modern era. It has been speculated that one such pioneer, Beth Phoenix, will make an appearance in the historic WWE match.

Beth Phoenix was a guest on E&C's Pod of Awesomeness recently and spoke at length about this match. We thank Prowrestling.com for the transcript of the same.

In case you didn't know...

Beth Phoenix, now married to WWE Hall of Famer, Edge, is considered to be one of the greatest in-ring female performers in WWE history. Known as the Glamazon, she's also one of the two women to have entered a Royal Rumble match, competing with the men.

Phoenix retired in 2012 to raise a family, and since then, she's become the youngest ever inductee into the prestigious WWE Hall of Fame.

The heart of the matter

Beth Phoenix addressed speculation that she would be part of the women's Royal Rumble match, as she said the following:

This is by design, exactly what this match is intended to do. It’s to create a buzz around the women and this is exactly what we have all wanted.
For the women to become a ticket selling part of the show, not a side attractions, not “there’s the bathroom break.

As one would expect, we did not get a straight answer from her. She also picked out a favourite to win the match:

If I’m on the spot, someone who really has a lot of momentum right now and is really making waves, I gotta go with Paige.

What's next?

The Women's Royal Rumble comes to us this January, from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA.

Author's take

I would love to see Phoenix, or indeed any legend return. It would be a culmination of many years of effort, a strong foundation of sweat and hard work.

I wouldn't even mind a legend winning the match, to add star power to WrestleMania 34.
