What’s the story?

WWE has officially changed the names of Luke Harper and Erick Rowan on its website.

The WWE is now promoting both Superstars simply as ‘Harper’ and ‘Rowan’.

In case you didn’t know…

Luke Harper (real name—Jon Huber) and Erick Rowan (Joseph Ruud) rose to prominence in the WWE alongside Bray Wyatt in the Wyatt Family.

Subsequently, the Wyatt Family split up, and Harper & Rowan continued performing in singles competition.

The heart of the matter

The WWE has now repackaged them as the Bludgeon Brothers, with the group making a huge statement in a match against the Hype Brothers on SmackDown Live this past Tuesday night.

The WWE often resorts to shortening Superstars’ names; for instance, Rusev, was formerly known as Alexander Rusev, Cesaro (Antonio Cesaro), Big E (Big E Langston), to name a few.

Harper and Rowan seem to be the latest Superstars on the WWE roster to have had their ring-names officially changed by WWE, and will now be presented on WWE’s television programming without their first names.

What’s next?

The Bludgeon Brothers (Harper & Rowan) will be featured prominently as a Tag Team to be reckoned with in the weeks to come on SmackDown Live.

Author’s take

Well, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan seem to have gotten a new lease of life, perhaps in more ways than one.

Irrespective of their names being shortened, the fact remains that the WWE has two highly-talented big men on its hands—something that the promotion can most definitely utilize more effectively in the future.

Although Harper & Rowan were lately relegated to the lower-tier of the WWE food chain, the unquestionable skills and intimidating personalities that they bring to the game will surely ensure that they become top dogs in WWE.
