The WWE has been organizing the Royal Rumble event annually since January of 1988. Several iconic moments transpired and legendary Superstars have competed in the ‘Rumble over the years, making the event one of the most significant in WWE, from a historical as well as entertainment perspective.

Hacksaw Jim Duggan won the first ever WWE Royal Rumble (1988), whereas Ric Flair became the first man to win the Royal Rumble and then go on to win Championship gold (1992). On the other hand, Yokozuna won the ‘Rumble and went on to receive a title shot at Wrestlemania (1993).
Additionally, Hulk Hogan became the first Superstar to notch consecutive Royal Rumble wins (1990 & 1991); whereas Shawn Michaels became the first to win the ‘Rumble despite entering at number-1, (1995). Chyna became the first woman entrant in the ‘Rumble (1999); whereas Steve Austin has won the most number of ‘Rumble matches (three).
Mick Foley partook the highest number of times in the same ‘Rumble (three) as Mankind, Dude Love & Cactus Jack. Kane has the most ‘Rumble appearances of all time in 19 (13 times consecutively). Triple H has the longest gap between ‘Rumble wins (14 years); whereas Roman Reigns has the most eliminations in a single ‘Rumble (12). Kane holds the most eliminations of all time (44).
Rey Mysterio spent the longest time in a single ‘Rumble match (1:2:12 hours); whereas Santino Marella holds the record for being eliminated the fastest (1.9 seconds). Chris Jericho holds the record for the most cumulative time in a ‘Rumble match (4:56:00 hours).
The WWE’s Royal Rumble PPV takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on January 28th.
The event is receiving considerable coverage in the mainstream media as well, owing to the first-ever All-Women’s Royal Rumble Match scheduled for the show.
