What’s the story?
The WWE has noted the huge reaction Johnny Gargano received from the NXT fans in his final NXT match.
Gargano has completed working his NXT live event dates; with his NXT stint culminating in his hometown.
In case you didn’t know…
Johnny Gargano sporadically performed for the WWE a few years ago, besides honing his craft in other professional wrestling promotions.
Gargano then competed for the WWE’s NXT brand from 2015 until he recently came up short in a career vs title match.
The heart of the matter
On NXT’s 14 February episode, Johnny Gargano lost in a Career vs Championship Match against reigning NXT Champion Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas, after Gargano’s former Tag Team partner Tommaso Ciampa attacked him.
Per the stipulation, Gargano had to leave NXT, however, he did continue working NXT house shows in the days that ensued.
The WWE has now acknowledged the incredible reaction Gargano received in his final NXT match, at the yellow brand’s live event in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio. Fans can watch the wonderful clip, featuring Johnny & his wife Candice LeRae, below—
What’s next?
Following his departure from NXT, Johnny Gargano is now expected to perform on the WWE’s main roster shows i.e., RAW, SmackDown Live, or 205 Live.

Johnny Gargano is perhaps one of the most underrated talents in the WWE today. The man has a tremendous work-rate and possesses great ring psychology to go with his undeniable mat wrestling skills.
Gargano seems to be primed to become one of the top WWE Superstars over the next few years. However, the primary focus of his character right now ought to be his unfinished feud with former best friend and Tag Team partner Tommaso Ciampa.
The duo could continue their feud on the main roster, and outshine the more established Superstars on RAW and SmackDown today.
