What's the story?
On their official website, WWE teased who the next victim of 'Woken' Matt Hardy's 'Deletion' might be and to the delight of the WWE Universe, it is none other than Raw commentator Michael Cole.
In case you didn’t know…
This past week's Monday Night Raw saw the Ultimate Deletion between Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt. The Woken One won the match after pinning Wyatt with a little help from Senor Benjamin and Brother Nero and later proceeded to throw Wyatt into the Lake of Reincarnation.
Raw broadcast commentator Michael Cole called the segment 'obnoxious' and Matt Hardy responded to the comment with a tweet of his own, in typical Woken style.
The heart of the matter
After coming back from a commercial break during the show, Cole apologised to the fans for the 'obnoxious' Ultimate Deletion segment. This did not go down too well with the Woken Warrior as he responded by calling him an 'Obsolete Mule' and called on his drone Vanguard1 to start surveillance on the 'heretic' Cole.
This back and forth banter has led even WWE to tease a Deletion between Matt Hardy and Michael Cole on their website. Even Vanguard1 responded to its master with a tweet:
The bizarre match received mixed reactions from the WWE Universe, with most of the fans responding positively and praising the segment.
What's next?
It remains to be seen whether the tease by WWE will come to fruition with a segment between Hardy and Cole, even if it is a short one. If nothing else, the confrontation is sure to be highly entertaining!
Author's take
Personally, I thought the Ultimate Deletion was really entertaining in parts. Over the top segments are really rare in today's product and WWE pulled off a good one with the delightful Hardy Compound face-off.
Cole has been a part of some very funny segments with the likes of The Rock previously and a face-off with 'Woken' Hardy would be hilarious!
