What’s the story?
WWE once wanted former superstar Christian to dress up as The Rock for a storyline. This snippet of backstage information was revealed on the latest episode of Edge & Christian’s Pod of Awesomeness, with the former tag team partners already starting to build up quite the following.
In case you didn’t know...
Back in the day, Christian was used as something of a buffer for The Rock whilst The Great One was off shooting movies. He would praise the former WWE Champion in a number of ways whilst also managing to get himself over, which is hardly a surprise given how talented he was alongside tag team partner, Edge.
The former Tag Team Champions are, as we now all know, retired.
The heart of the matter
The story suggests that WWE wanted Christian to cut his hair short and dress exactly like The Rock, however, he’d be wearing white clothing as opposed to black.
He’d then refer to himself as The Lock, with the idea behind it being that every time he went to the ring it was a ‘lock’ that he was going to come out victorious. Ironically enough, Vince himself was the man who shot the idea down.
What’s next?
The Pod of Awesomeness truly is one of the most entertaining wrestling shows out there right now, and the duo have revealed stories to the wrestling world that we previously would’ve never heard.

It’s great to hear stories like this because Edge and Christian truly are two of the most interesting guys in the business. Hopefully, they can continue to bring on some fascinating guests within the world of professional wrestling for all of us fans.
