WWE News: WWE mentions the Hardy Boyz again on Twitter; Matt Hardy responds

Current ROH Tag Team Champions, The Hardy Boys

What’s the story?

As WWE has moved further into the “Reality Era,” trolling has become an art form for them. The most common instances of this have come on WWE’s Twitter feeds, including the one for reserved for the WWE Universe.

The Universe’s Twitter account mentioned the Hardys on Twitter again today, and Matt Hardy responded in his own special way.

In case you didn’t know...

Rumours have been flying about the Hardys making their way back to WWE since the brothers announced that they were leaving TNA Impact Wrestling. Matt and Jeff left Impact after a lengthy contract negotiation made them feel insulted by their former employees.

Fans immediately started to speculate about where the brothers would land, with the consensus opinion being that they would make their way back to WWE sooner or later. The Hardys ended up signing a deal with Ring of Honor that is believed to be a short-term one and captured the ROH Tag Team Championships on their first night in the company.

Matt and Jeff’s last WrestleMania appearance together for WWE was at WrestleMania 25, in which the brothers faced each other in an Extreme Rules match, which Matt won. Jeff left WWE at the end of August 2009, and Matt departed about a year later.

The heart of the matter

The WWE Universe’s Twitter account posted several tweets today about matches from WrestleMania 25 to WrestleMania 32, as they were doing a poll on which match from those editions was their favourite. Their tweet about the Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy match from WrestleMania 25 had something extra to it Broken brilliance?), though:

As has been the case recently, Matt Hardy responded to the tweet in his own special way:

What’s next?

The Hardys will defend the ROH Tag Team Championships against the Young Bucks on Saturday at ROH Supercard of Honor on April 1st. WrestleMania 33 will take place the following day.

Author’s take

Do you remember the feeling you got when you were a little kid as Christmas was a few days away? That’s what the situation with the Hardys and the WWE has felt like for me since Matt and Jeff announced that they were leaving Impact Wrestling.

Whether it be on the WrestleMania broadcast itself or the night after on Raw, I cannot wait to see the Hardys back on WWE television.
