This dream match is coming your way, this Sunday!
This dream match is coming your way, this Sunday!

What's the story?

This week's action-packed episode of SmackDown Live saw The Shield interrupt the match between The New Day and the team of Owens and Zayn in the main event. Chaos would ensue, in which Team RAW would come out on top.

Shortly after the melee subsided, Xavier Woods sent out a Tweet, taking a shot at The Shield. He said that they were not a real team, unlike the unicorns!

In case you didn't know...

Survivor Series 2017 is a battle for brand pride, as RAW takes on SmackDown to prove which of the two is the superior WWE Brand.

One of the marquee matches in the card is the battle between RAW's biggest trio, The Shield against SmackDown Live's own, The New Day.

The New Day cost Rollins and Ambrose the Tag Team Championships when WWE was in Manchester, England, and The Shield returned the favour by paying The New Day a visit on SmackDown Live.

The heart of the matter

In the tweet, Woods acknowledged the fact that The Shield got the better of them in this week's edition of SmackDown Live. However, he said that unlike The Shield, The New Day were a real team and not individual glory hoggers, like the Hounds of Justice tend to be.

This is an allusion to the fact that all three members of The Shield are certified main eventers in singles competition. Each one of them has been WWE Champion in the past, and therefore were a makeshift team, according to Xavier Woods.

What's next?

The match, of course. The New Day and The Shield should steal the show, when they collide. Both teams can put on great matches, and this match may even be a 'Match of the Night' contender at Survivor Series 2017.

Author's take

I cannot wait for this match. It's unfortunate that these teams are on different brands and we're not getting a full-fledged feud from them. Survivor Series 2017 will be a great show indeed.
