WWE/NJPW News: Chris Jericho returns to New Japan and destroys current champion

What's the story?

Despite Chris Jericho denying that he was going to make a return to NJPW, PWInsider reported yesterday that Jericho was set to make his return to New Japan and it looks like they got it right.

Jericho returned to New Japan earlier today (less than an hour ago, at the time of writing) to attack a current champion and take him out. And there was blood.

In case you didn't know...

Chris Jericho wrestled for New Japan early in his career before making his return earlier this year to challenge Kenny Omega in the Tokyo Dome at Wrestle Kingdom.

Jericho and Omega tore the house down in the semi main-event spot, earling rave reviews. Jericho later teased a program with Tetsuya Naito after viciously attacking him days after Wrestle Kingdom, but that feud didn't come into fruition.....until now.

The heart of the matter

Los Ingobernables de Japon along with Tetsuya Naito were facing members of Suzuki-Gun at Pro Wrestling Dontaku when a fan came out of the crowd to attack Naito. After he removed his mask, it turned out to be none other than Chris Jericho, thereby reigniting the feud between Jericho and Naito.

It looks like these two will face each other in a singles match after all.

What's next?

Chris Jericho will face Tetsuya Naito at either at an upcoming NJPW show, it is unclear which one at this point. The match could even headline NJPW's San Francisco show.

Author's take

Jericho is one of the best in the world and him appearing in NJPW is awesome for fans as Jericho vs Naito is a dream match a lot of hardcore fans have been waiting for.
