What's the story?
WWE superstars Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were recently a guest on Stone Cold Steve Austin's podcast, The Steve Austin show.
During the interview, with Austin, Luke Gallows revealed the origins of his Festus character and the two men also discussed the developmental of their former faction, the Bullet Club.
In case you didn't know…
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson were previously part of the legendary Japanese faction called the Bullet Club, alongside the likes of AJ Styles, Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks and more.
Gallows and Anderson are reckoned as one of the most standout tag teams in NJPW history, as the duo have previously held the IWGP Tag Team Championship on several occasions.
In 2016, the two men made their WWE debut as they left NJPW and the Bullet Club and signed for Vince McMahon's promotion. This was also Gallows' second stint with the WWE, as he previously played the Festus character for WWE.
The heart of the matter
During Gallows and Anderson's chat with "The Texas Rattlesnake", Gallows revealed the origins of his Festus character, as he claimed that it was non-other than Vince McMahon's idea to come up with the idea of the character.
Gallows claimed that McMahon told him a story about a kid he knew in high school who was very slow but would immediately snap if someone angered him. The WWE chairman then told Gallows to portray a character based on this particular high school kid and thus the Festus character was born. The 33-year-old also added that he and McMahon would then go on and do the "Festus Face" back and forth until Gallows perfected it.

Austin then questioned both Anderson and his tag team partner regarding the Bullet Club's development. Anderson and Gallows would then praise Gedo by calling him a 'progressive booker'.
The former IWGP Tag Team Champions additionally said that Gedo saw something special in Finn Balor and thus decided to turn him heel and thus the Bullet Club was formed shortly after. Gallows also believed that the group had something special going when they sold their first T-shirt prints among thousands of units.
What's next?
Gallows and Anderson are one of the best tag teams on the planet today, however, the former Raw Tag Team Champions now find themselves without a proper story-line and are absolutely directionless.
The best call from here on would be for WWE to reunite these two men with either Finn Balor and reform The Club or draft them to Smackdown Live and reunite them with their Club leader AJ Styles.

Gallows and Anderson are one of the most outstanding teams in WWE at the moment. One hopes that their respective careers get back on the right track in 2018.
