WWE/NJPW News: Paul Heyman addresses rumours of CM Punk going to NJPW

Well, the answer is a pretty resounding no
Well, the answer is a pretty resounding no

What's the story?

CM Punk has turned his back on WWE, and is now focused on making a career in UFC. Paul Heyman caught up with The New York Post and answered if CM Punk would head to NJPW or ROH in due time.

According to Heyman, the answer is a very big no. We thank Wrestling Inc. for the heads up, regarding this news item.

In case you didn't know...

After becoming the most successful WWE superstar in years, CM Punk walked away from the company in 2014, owing both to issues with his health and dissatisfaction in terms of how he was treated by the company.

Since then, he's turned his attention to UFC, where he, unfortunately, lost in his fight to a fighter named Mickey Gall. Many professional wrestling fans have longed for his return, in due course of time.

The heart of the matter

Paul Heyman elaborated why there's a very small chance of Punk ever wrestling again, even for promotions such as NJPW and ROH:

I don't think CM Punk cares one way or another what's going on in the world of sports entertainment. He is someone that has achieved his goals by dedicating every aspect of his life to pursuing his passions. His passions right now are quiet obviously in mixed martial arts and I don't think he has a contingency plan in case of failure. I don't think failure is an option for Phil Brooks.

In fact, Punk's former manager went on to mention how Punk would pick a Bellator run over another professional wrestling one:

I think he is intent on making a go of it in the mixed martial arts world and if it doesn't work out for him in UFC, I'm sure he would be looking a Bellator before he would be looking at a return to the wrestling ring.

What's next?

CM Punk will most likely be fighting at UFC 225. As for Paul Heyman, he will lead a Beast into the ring at WrestleMania 34, in New Orleans. Brock Lesnar takes on Roman Reigns in the main event of the grand show.

Author's take

Paul Heyman knows CM Punk much better than most of the world. I have no doubt that what he said is indeed true.

It's still a big loss for the entire world of sports entertainment.
